Presentation To Technology Enhanced Learning Team

Today I presented my work thus far on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality to the team from Technology Enhanced Learning, (TEL), part of Learning Teaching Solutions, (LTS).

The presentation was a practical demonstration to show how the Knowledge Media Institute, (KMI), is making use of theses technologies.

Attendees were briefed on the journey taken from initial concept to real world use in the SK299 Human Biology app and given the opportunity to ask questions.

Topics covered

  • The AR solution of choice at present, Vuforia: based on cost and ease of use.  There are numerous other solutions available but it is seen as their cost is prohibitive to faculty use.
  • The choice of VR headset KMI is currently adopting, smart phone mounted over the more expensive Oculus Rift, HTC Vive etc that for now remain too expensive to be considered for mainstream student use.
